Tom Zinnen

Thomas Zinnen has been a biotechnology extension specialist since 1991. He also served as a Congressional Science Fellow in 2000–2001, and he was on loan to the National Science Foundation from 2008 to 2010 as a speechwriter for the NSF Director. He leads BioTrek, the public outreach program of the Biotech Center and UW-Extension. His key role is in welcoming Wisconsinites to come experience science at their public, land-grant research university.

 

Liz Jesse

 

Elizabeth (Liz) Jesse is a Science Outreach Specialist at the UW Biotechnology Center. Liz worked as a middle and high school classroom teacher for ten years, at both public and public charter schools in the Sheboygan Area. She also has experience working in the private sector as a pharmaceutical lab technician. Liz has a BS in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters of Arts in Secondary Education from the University of Maryland-University College.

 

Paul Pierick 

Paul’s job at the lab is to prep DNA samples, wheat germ and other supplies to be used for educational experiments during the tours and workshops.

Dyllen Brewer

Dyllen Brewer is a current undergraduate student at UW-Madison and is studying genetics and genomics. She is a student hourly worker who handles tasks such as teaching workshops, emceeing for Wednesday Night at the Lab, and general help around the labs. Dyllen has always enjoyed life science and working with children. The Biotechnology Center has allowed Dyllen to pursue both of her passions. In addition to helping out at the Biotechnology Center Dyllen is involved in plant genetics research on campus.
